Crazy,

You can read (trunicated) back issues of Haunted Attractions magazine online for free. The article will probably be put up on the website a while after the print magazine comes out.

thedarktomb, about the paint that you use. Was it like a spray paint? The only thing i found at home depot was a spray paint that gives the look of sandstone. Sorry if i m asking alot of questions.[8D]

I'm not exactly sure, crazy, but they do tend to leave the prop how-tos untouched.

Good, thanks. I really wish I had the available funds to order it on paper.

Jon,

The paint is spray paint. It usually costs about $5.00 a can and works awesome with the small irregular flecks in it. I also get the stone fleck paint at a home improvement thrift store we have here called Habitat Re-Store. It only costs me $1.20 a can when they have it in stock. I just picked up 6 cans to keep on hand.

Another low cost solution for a similar effect would be to use regular flat cream colored or greyed paint and before the paint dries, throw saw dust on it in an random pattern. Just use a little at a time and build in layers with more spray paint until you get the effect you want.

Crazy, I'm pretty sure they'll post the article on the website in September.

ok, thanks for the info. I just built the main frame of it. The movement that im getting is really violent from the top of the body. Where as the bottom is more of a rocking movement. Can you explain how yours is? Now i have to make it look like a human.

Jon,

To keep the top from rocking too violently, use additional bungee cords. The bungee cords work great to restrict the movement while keeping the torso a little springy. I also tie knots in the middle of my bungee cords if I want them less springy and more rigid. I just had to play with the placement of the bungee cords until I had the effect I wanted.

You could also build a guide on each side of him so that he only sways so far in either direction if you wanted.
