Default pedestals

Hi gang...I began work this morning on my dark angel pedestals......Ill take a break and see if I can get a honest opinion from the group.......I am a firm believer in realism is the scariest thing there is...for those that dont believe just watch the morning news....thus I do all of my props as realistically as poossible...OK I am building a mausuelom this year ...inside of it will be a FCG on the outside of the entrance will be two dark angels on pedestals standing guard...now for my dilemma...I was just gonna do a standard three foot tall pedestal somewhat ornate.. making the stand 3 foot by one foot square...but I recently aquired two Faux marble columns three foot tall and eight inch in diameter.....I am thinking of inserting the columns inside of the pedestals and having the front wall of it in plexiglass with a small blacklight lighting the columns of course you will not see the blacklights only the columns glowing inside of the pedestal.....I figure I will lightly fog the edges of the glass with a matching shade of paint .....hope you guys can understand my babbling.............I think it will sacrifice a lil realism but add a stunning effect......input?

OK you guys ....stop looking and start posting....anyways I decided to give the lighted column a try if I dont like it I will be able to easily paint over the front and age it like the rest of the pedestal and no-one will even know there is a coloumn inside ...

I saw your pics in the other thread---looks great! Did you make the angels and how(if you did) and what is the blacklite going to be shining on?

I think that is a wonderful idea. I am gathering that the lights will be under the plexi correct, shining upwards? How reactive are you going to make them, or will it be a subtle glow? Do you think that the effect will be better than using small low watt spotlamps?

The blacklight will be shining towrds the faux marble column....I will fog the outer edges of the plexi with a light coat of matching paint .....the effect I am looking for will be a lightly glowing column and of course the angels eyes glow red......the angels them selves are actually BLO-MOLD christmas angels....it just goes to show no matter how ghey something looks in present form ...a haunter can make it look evil...............thanx for the input......

OK everybody say YESSSSSSS!!!!!!!! I just installed the side walls and front glass...I didnt have a small enough black light so I opted for a single red christmas light.......It will match the Angels eyes so I guess it will be ok....the glow is very low and looks great...I put some spanish moss on the column draping downward.......and heres the deal with or with out a light installed it looks GREAT.........I am very please with this outcome..........the best part so far is that I have utilized alot of last years material and it has yet to cost me anything...WOOHOO free props............I now need to break up the foam board to get my crackle stone pieces ready to glue on....perhaps after dinner........TODAY was a GOOD day....

I bet the red looks just as good as a blacklite. Thanks for answering me about the angels, I have yet to find those darn things around here at xmas!

OK heres another set of pictures...as always they are at the bottom of the page...the pedestal still needs paint but you can get the idea of the prop from here...also here is my 10 foot tall scarecrow...this is the prop that still needs a evil pumpkin mask for its head...again you can get the idea behind the prop.............................BTW I would like a cookie for dragging my self and my props out into minus 20 degree wind chills today just for you guys...
