Well Jen just did something really cool. She cut a bunch of hot dogs and buns in half. The idea is to make some cut off fingers. Ketchup is an obvious addition but then she stuck some fake fingernails into the end of the dogs.. man .. do they look cool. Like real fingers.
[]I just love Halloween food ideas!!! Here's some of mine:
Witch fingers: Take boneless, skinless chicken breasts and cut 5 "fingers" and leave a "palm". Crinkle up a small wad of foil and place it under the "palm". Baste it with green dyed olive oil or veg oil that you have blended herbs and green onion into. Bake at 350 for about 45 mins. They come out looking like decrepit hands that hold their shape. Dip in dressings (green goddess is the BEST) Glue halved black olives on the tips with cream cheese for nails
Deviled Eyeballs: Hard boil eggs. Cut a 1" diam. hole in one end of the cooked egg. Scoop out the yellow with a little babyfood spoon (tedious) and mix with mayo, paprika and whatever else you do to normal deviled eggs. Squirt it back in with a cake decorator press. Cover the hole with a jumbo green olive.
Lorena Bobbit Stew: mix jars of cocktail sauce with grape jelly (1 to 1) and add cocktail weinies and meatballs to the sauce. Heat and keep hot in a crockpot.
Ghoul Flesh: Ham rolls - cream cheese with chopped whatever. I like chopped gr. onion, gr. olives and pickles. Mix the chopped stuff into the cream cheese and spread on to a ham slice 2/3 of the way down. roll it up starting at the cr. cheese end and cut in half. Serve on a bed of lettuce.
Brain Salad Surgery: Take a brain mold and make jello with red and green and add cream or cream cheese and blend. If it needs to be grayer, add some blue food coloring. Serve on a bed of lettuce with carrots, celery sticks as garnish. Try to find scalpels (we can get them at our local American Science and Surplus) and have a scalpel or two sticking out of the brain. Drizzle a raspberry sauce here and there.
Necrotic Devil Fingers (or Ogre toes) Marinate chicken wings in a mixture of soy sauce, worcestershire sauce, some black pepper for about 2 days. Bake them until they are fully cooked (prolly half hour) and serve with bleu cheese dressing.
By the way, I am doing Low Carb, so..................this all works especially since I am making the brain out of sugar free jello.
