Hi everyone,
I'm fairly new to this forum, but I just thought I'd share a few of my prop ideas for this Halloween (giant spiderweb, fence poles, window decorations, scary skeleton). They're not as spectacular as some of the other props on this site, but for a novice prop builder such as myself, they're easy and cheap to make. Great ideas, I love em! I have always had Halloween near and dear to my heart, but this year it's all about being the house that kids are going to dare each other to go to first. Scarey won't begin to describe it. My biggest problem is the lighting. I was told to try the blue and/or green flood lights for my graveyard; any ideas? Someone had a great idea for glowing windows and the only thing I need to figure out is what kind of theme to set up on the carport. The area is about 10x12 ft. pass an ideas along, and Happy Haunting! BC5

Cool stuff. Love the house too. That tower could be really great to decorate, it looks very castle-ish. Ever think of doing some Frankenstein's monster display in the windows? maybe some strobes and weird laboratory noises. Or maybe a vampire at the window with some wolf howls and some movie lines from dracula looping on a tape deck.

I Like your skeleton! Sweet! Your casket looks great too. Your definitely going to make some TOTs happy Halloween night. Your concept photo is nice Ocdanny96. What program did you use?

I like the window!
here's an idea:
I used FRP (the hard thin plastic found in public restroom and kitchen walls) and cut out (with tin snips) arms and hands, that I placed in the window sill and backlit with fading lights.
Spray paint flat black, and they look like they are reaching up.
The FRP is very sturdy and stands well.
IMO blue looks the best for my graveyard, green was just good for spot lighting, like my wishing well.
I'll be lurking for you.

BlackCat, from what I've been told, the lighting seems to be a pretty important part of any graveyard and blue, green, or red flood lights can really set the mood of your graveyard. I'll be using a blue flood light to get that moon-lit look. I bought these flood light sockets from Home Depot for $5. The chord is green and one end is the plug and the other splits off like a "Y" into two separate sockets for two flood lights. The sockets have a plastic spike at their base, so that you can stake the flood light into the ground and it swivel up or down for the perfect angle.
Nozoki, your ideas for the "tower" windows sound great! Unfortunately, I've already spent my budget (and then some!) on Halloween this year. Maybe next year I can get even more creative with those windows.
Putrid, I used Adobe Photoshop to draw in a few of my ideas on the picture of my house. You could even use MS Paint.
Noahbody, those arms and hands reaching up sound really cool. I bet they'd look great in windows that are high up, like the one's in the "tower" of my house.
Thanks for the compliments and great ideas, everyone!
