I'd also like to be put on the notification list for the bird bird. I have 3 spares on my shelf I'd like to play with that didn't require the full setup.

You got it BSR! I should have these ready in a couple weeks but I may not have the 5V 2A power supplies til late Jan. I'm requiring using this power supply ONLY due to the board strictly needing a regulated 5V input. Any power supply over 5.5V will severely damage the board. My initial design used a 9-12V supply with onboard regulators for the outputs but after extensive testing, the regulators needed heat sinks and I just didn't like how they heated up.

That's it! I'm getting one of these birds and hacking it. I just HAVE to have one now. It would raise our pirate display to the next level. The information in this thread is AWESOME and the videos have totally inspired me. If I remember, I'll document the whole things (pics/video) so everyone can share in my successes/failures. Not sure if I want to go full servo replacement or just keeping the guts and controlling them differently. I'll let you know.

    CC,
I'll have these boards available soon, it's a VERY easy hack with no programming and great results. Doing a full servo hack is gonna be quite a project, these birds are not easy to completely take apart and then you have to figure out how to replace the motors with servos. Add to all of that, you then need a controller and software to painstakingly program every movement.
