Continuing the trend of refreshing a bunch of older props, here's another.

Doctor Maul, the not so trust worthy associate of Doctor Grim.

This is a mostly Model Magic sculpt, with a few matted wisps of hair (that hasn’t rotted off his head)
The bloodied discarded surgical mask remains around his neck, ready for the next examination.

I liked the mask of the old version, but it had been seen too many times, and I'm trying to move away from rubber masks as much as I can. Trying to make the haunt as unique as possible.

Still need to fill out the body and create some boney, emaciated hands.

It looks great and I admire your talent. Great prop name BTW. It got my attention.

That looks awesome! How did you get that leathery veiny skin look on his neck?

    Thanks for the comments.

The leathery veiny skin on the neck is a combination of paper mache (water, glue & shop towel), model magic & paint.

The paper mache is a base coat, smooth application on the top of the head and deliberate wrinkling on the neck. Model Magic clay was also added to enhance some neck detail (skin folds)
A few layers of paint (base flesh/tan, rub on of thinned black to get into crevasses, then an air bush highlight of brown, and some grey to low light deeper crevasses.

In other words mess around with the paint to get something that looks half decent. I wish I could say it was all planned and mapped out, but I kind of just go with what is working (or not)

I should add, for me the deliberate wrinkling is sometimes a hit & miss. The effect is not alway what I like, so I either cover with more paper mache or clay.

    Amazing work as always, Doc!

I think it's cool that you'removing away from the rubber mask props. I'm doing something similar with my haunt. However, instead of having "store bought" masks, I'm seeking out independent shops and hobbyists for my characters.

Thanks. Good idea on the alternate route for masks. I still really like many of the masks I have, but when they are mass produced, they are seen in stores by many people and it reduces the surprise factor a bit.
Also, with the masks freed up from the static props, it allows 'actors' to wear them.
