Thanks for the pics! yes this is where I got the idea from, thought it would be cool to have a bird/bird-man as the scarecrow

I am new to the sculpting game, but I am enjoying it, so I think I am going to give it a shot first.

Take it from me. Do what you think looks best when it comes to the scarecrow post. I actually did Buckys attached to crosses a few years back (i have pics in my profile)and I got mixed reviews. Its Halloween though. Plus no offense, but crucifixion was not just tied to Jesus. If you look at the history behind crucifixion you'll see that it was around far before Jesus's time. Not trying to turn this into a pissing match, but don't feel restricted. Use your best judgement and have fun with it.

True pain and suffering he brought to them all
Away ran the children to hide in their beds,
for fear that the devil would chop off their heads..."

I do understand what you are saying, I know when you have to be careful about everything you say. I really love that this forum is relatively troll free and you can have these dialogues without the arguments. I agree that it is basically the electric chair of that time period and it is not just a religious symbol. At the end of the day, I am going to do what I think looks the best for the prop. The idea is so in my head, just need to translate that!

I thought I might add a little clarification since I was the one who mentioned the cross stuff.

I have no ties to any religious affiliation what-so-ever. Maybe that's why I am concerned with how something I create might be perceived. I have zero feelings about any of that stuff so I don't know what would, could, or should upset someone. The only thing I know is that I don't ever want to upset someone, anyone, over something as silly as a Halloween scarecrow. I always just figure that if I can avoid tweaking my neighbors, especially as they peek out from behind their curtains at my Halloween display, then I'll live in a happier neighborhood all year round.

I have the freedom to hang anything I want from a bloody cross, but it doesn't mean that I should just because I can.

If a crucifix is detrimental to your design then certainly use it. I was merely pointing out my first impression.

Again, I love the design. I can't wait to see it executed.

At weddings, my Aunts would poke me in the ribs and cackle "You're next!". They stopped when I started doing the same to them at funerals.

I used Big Nick's design to hang my Buckies on crosses. Was funny when I was setting up and the lil 5-year-old girl from down the street came down to check things out and said: "That looks just like Jeeeeeeeeeesus"

That's the only comment I've ever gotten.
