The prop is laying down so the side to side movement may get caught with friction of the prop on the table.

I guess I'd have to PoC to find out.

I think it's a cool effect for a lab or autopsy patient on a medical table.

i have seen 3x21 belt sanders used both horizontal and vertical to create the shake not sure of the exact mod needed

This may not work, but you can always duct tape a bunch of these two her back: http://www.amazon.com/BUMBLE-BALL-JR.../dp/B000MVVX4Y

That may work, and I may be able to get one for less than a wiper motor!

Interesting idea. I wanted to get some to let rattle around a coffin anyway.

This one by distortions stopped my clock the other day. Fantastic-

The only, only thing that holds me up from investing in these and the other vibrating, rocking, and giggling props from them is the cost. You get an amazing looking and well built prop for sure, but the animation is too one dimensional for me personally for the cost. But I'm gonna guess they all will sell like HOT CAKES. The detail of the props themselves is stunning.
    love that!!!

Well the hand sander didn't do much.
It made allot of noise, but didn't move the prop much at all.
The prop I want to use it on is foam filled, so I won't have room for a WWM and off weight swing

What about using one of those Haunted Hedge props? The ones with the eyes that light up and shake the bushes. They all operate with a motor and an off-set weight on the shaft. It's small and and should move the prop enough, I was going to use one to rattle the door in a pirate theme jail.

I rigged up a wiper motor, with counter weight. The motor was wired to high speed, and I used a 12V,5AMP power supply.
The RPM's are probably 50 which is about max for the motor I believe.
The problem is, it still too slow.
The best effect it may have is a slow tremor, not a fast shake.

I'm looking for DC motors that can operate at >300 RPM to try again. Any one have any ideas on what is available, suitable (and cheap), high RPM motor?

    Thanks

Surplus Center carries a lot of high RPM DC motors.

Like this one at 500 RPM:
