I decided to try Dave Lowe's design for easy creepy books and I think my first two came out pretty good. I'm planning to make a whole collection, one for every Halloween creature. I couldn't have come across his blog at a better time because I had a box of books ready to take to Good Will. Needless to say I will be keeping them now.
A note to anyone who tries this: I found that the more expensive paper towels work better if you are going to paint the books while they are still wet. I used Viva brand which are more like cloth than paper. The cheaper ones seemed to rip and tear after too many brush strokes.

By the way, if you have made books with this technique I would love to see pictures!
