    Greetings all,

I spent a good amount of time today trying to find an online tutorial about how to make 2 axis eyes for my 3 axis skulls with no luck.

I found a lot of videos on YouTube showing ones that were already installed but nothing about how to make them on your own.*

Does anyone know of a good tutorial or build info online?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.*

    Thanks.*

Well, I don't have a tutorial, but as food for thought, I can tell you that the design Graveyard Skulls uses is, shall we say, in need of improvement. The video I shot of it should be enough for you to figure out how it's put together, though.

There is none hirez. I've searched for months high and wide. I'm in the same boat. I've got some ideas but will hold off testing until I get the skulls up and running. The biggest problem is the little room you have to work in. I need to place wires for RGB leds in the eyeballs also. Mr Chicken's efforts are the best out there to date.

Good find josh. I've had limited success doing a "search" internally in this forum.

Here's how I did mine. I used the "roll on deodorant bottle" method. The 'frames' for the eyeballs are actually deodorant bottles but the eyeballs were solid plastic. In the end it turned out ok but did not have a huge amount of movement. I will say that the eye mechanism turned out to be one of the most difficult, most frustrating thing I have ever made.

back view. The servo rod you see hanging will be attached to a servo on the underside of the skull to manage the up/down movement.

Side view. You can see here that the blue servo is used to move the eyes left and right and the slot where it connects allows the eyes to move up and down at the same time.

I had to remove a TON of material from inside the skull to make room for the mechanism.

Here is close up of the servo mounted underneath to control the up/down movements of the eyes.

Here is what it looked like after installing the mechanism. Note I removed part of the nose as well to get more space.

I filled in around the eyes with clay. After "corpsing" the skull you could not tell.

Here are some videos of what I did on a bucky Skull. It is still cramped and a pain to work on. I used Dr.Moribus' design with a few of my modifications.I have come up with another design that seems to be less trouble. As stated before the bucky skull needs a lot of matierial removed. PM me if you have any questions.

Thanks for all the info guys. It seems most people worked with designs for a "Bucky" skull having to remove a lot of material to make the eyes fit / work.

I'm trying to work out a new small / compact new design that has a wide range of movement that will easily fit into a Lindberg skull which all my 3-axis skulls use.

Because I am a big fan of the 3-axis twisty skull kits from Triaxial Skull Labs, I want to make something that will adapt / fit to that design.

I'm going to test out a couple of ideas and see which works best.

    I will keep you posted.

Homie said he was working on an eye kit. I hadn't heard how that worked out.
