So when I built my witches house I used crapy chip board plywood (it was free) and now I’m paying for it. The stuff is rotting and was covered with black mold when I took it out of storage it never seems to dry. So I have made the sad decision of tossing all the panels I used to make the witches house. I plan on making it with treated plywood this time instead since it spends so long in the rain before its put away. Anyways since I am in this position I have the ability to completely change the appearance of the witch’s house. Below is what it looked like on Halloween.
I plan to keep the 3 windows and the framing will also be the same but I am trying to decide if I should change the overall look? Should I keep the stone work look or should I try for something else? I have considered trying to make a Hansel and Gretel witches house instead but not sure if that would fit with the overall theme that I have (gothic and lots of corpses and zombies) more about my current look can be seen on my site www.horrordelta.com

I personally think that a "log cabin" style house would rock with your overall theme. (think mid-evil/ dark ages.) Maybe something with a "thatched roof" IMO I think it would be cool.
Why are you afraid of zombies anyway? They only eat brains, so you're safe

I love the look of your witch's house!! If you WANT to change it up, an old wooden shack would be pretty cool too. Some people on here have made a shack out of old pallets.. I like the old dingy look so this would probably be the way I would go if I were to do it but, I really like your run down, stone building! What a shame you had to throw some of it out.
It's my strange addiction..

Wow! What a shame that you have to do away with it, because it looks awesome!

First, let me say I love the look of the witch house. The stone look is great and really gives an old, creepy feel.
Now, if this is something you are going to keep and reuse for several years, I would suggest you spend the money and buy the 2 in. thick sheets of the dense styrofoam.

Then put the sheets together, carve them to your liking, and build a new witch house.

I think you can get more depth than you think using the 2 in. foam, and since it's foam, it won't rot, mold, decompose, etc. You can even add texture by painting the exterior in Drylock. Also, by making each side of the house a separate panel, you can take it apart for storage (if that's something you want to do).

OH My GOODNESS!!! DELTA GIRL!! I LOVE the look of your original witches cottage! SO I totally agree with TK and others. I would think you will want to just rebuild it into a similar look - logs or rock style -- and use the pink foam covered in Drylock. If it works for headstones - it's got to work for witches houses!
You could also use marine grade plywood with your next build and make it so you can use it for storage like a real shed during most of the year - then transform it into the scary cottage later in September/October. I was going to try the pallet method this spring. I have been collecting them for over a year and now our backyard looks like the backside of a Home Depot! LOL Then I was going to paint with one of those Ooops paints or stains that offer weatherproof protection.
Can't wait to see how you proceed with your re-build. Fantastic cottage look in your original version for sure!!" TO SERVE MAN " ... IT'S A COOKBOOK!"

I actually have my own technique that I invented a while back that I will be using (this will be a good excuse to document it and post to the forum). The biggest problem (and the only reason it failed) was the wood I used for the base the chip board stuff acts like a sponge the stuff was a 1/4 inch thick when I made the thing its now about a 1/2 - 3/4 inch thick that's the only reason it is going to need to be thrown out. I am likening the log cabin idea it would definitely make the building look completely new. I might use a combination of the two (log and stone). I would still appreciate any other suggestions... I still need to wait until the weather is a bit warmer before I start (I hate winter burr)
I swear I'm not crazy its everyone else who is crazy.

Your stone house is unique I would keep the stones but make a frame from 1 x 2's to attach the stone to, no sheathing at all
