The mail carrier just knocked on my door and handed me a package I have been waiting several days for.......A box of Lindberg skulls!!!!
They are brand new and look all shiney and clean. I need them to look like they were just dug up from a 100 year old grave. I am just like everyone else......I want it now!! Dont have time to bury them in the backyard and wait 80 - 100 years.
I am sure I read a thread somewhere a while back on how to distress/paint a plastic skull with wood stain? or maybe something similiar?? to make it look old, but cant seem to find it now.
Could ya'll throw me some ideas??

I use gel stain antique from Tandy leather factory. the results are amazing. Really nice stuff. do you want skin on it? wrap it once with saran wrap then hit it with a heat gun.
to see the stain antique watch this and start at 6min 15 sec.

Thank you Miss Terra and Allen. This morning I found the thread I was looking for........It was Minwax Gel Stain (aged oak color)
But the thread Miss Terra suggested made for some interesting reading. The gel stain Allen uses looks as if it works like the Minwax Gel......... There is no leather place or craft store withen 50 miles of me so I am going to go with the Minwax Gel....I found a small can at Wal-Mart.

Please let us know how it works out for you rivers. I've got 2 3axis Lindbergs I'll attach to 2 Walgreen skellys. As the outer surface materials are so different, I plan to spray or hand paint the skulls and skellys in an off white and apply the Minwax Stain for a consistent result. Good luck with it and post some pics.
My most stimulating conversations have been with dead things.
