Thread: Asylum door/possessed portrait

I really like the asylum door prop and or the portrait on the wall that bounces as the girl in the portrait screams and pounds on the glass from the inside. I cannot believe the prices they charge for some of these props, so my question is....has anyone made these props?

There was a thread on here a few years ago that had several photos of builds of the door. It even sparked feedback from the creator of the commercial version of the door. I think that thread also got hi-rezdesign started. If you buy the dvd from hi-rez, they will provide you with instructions on how to build the door.

Nicely done, what material did you skin the door with? How was it received by your visitors?

Its a spandex type material. It was a big hit with the visitors. So many were amazed by it. The videos and instructions came from Hi Rez designs. It is a great prop and fun to build.

I will be ordering the DVD from them. Was the material easy to find?

FYI John - You might want to check with robalex32, he still might have a yard left of that spandex material he was selling to use for the ax door that Hi-Rez recommended. I bought 2 yards from him, nice & easy to deal with. Here is the ad he had on it & some solenoids,
Solenoids,cylinders,spandex
