Hello Everyone!!! I want to wish you all a great New Year!!! That and tell you that I'm getting ready to build a "Bone Throne". I started yesterday by being really bored and thus cleaning my garage. In the midst of it all I ran accross to "Twilight" Skulls. (you know the ones, their are really small and they SPARKLE) I used one for a hanging ghost but wasn't happy with it this last year and when I was cleaning decided that I was going to mount the skulls on the front of a Plastic chair. I did the preliminary work yesterday and over the next few months I will gather the things needed to complete the prop. And begin the task of completing it. Below are the Photos I took for my Progress Journal/How to tutorial.

This photo shows both skulls temporarily mounted to the chair to see if they will "ride" the arms properly. You will notice that each skull is a different color turns out this is a good thing. Though you can't see it I have written the color letters on their corrosponding arms so that they mount properly during final assembly. I also labled the cut outs on each skull with an L and a R to make the assembly process idiot proof. And considering I am often an Idiot I need all the help I can get, LOL. Next step is to find a bucky that somebody is throwing away so that I can take it apart for the rest of the chair...

You cant see it in the photo but on both the skulls I have put holes in the eyes to place red fairy lights in them and wire back the underside of the arms. I believe that it will look really damn good at final installation. More photos to follow.

A throw-away bucky may not be an easy find, but browse Ebay and you can often purchase an entire animal skeleton for cents on the dollar. A big animal, like an Elk. I do it all the time. In fact, I probably have some parts you could use, if you don't mind using real bones. I have learned that large items like these below make for good capitols atop the back part of a throne.

EDIT In hindsight, it is probably better you not know how I know this, but it actually has nothing to do with Halloweenery of any kind.

Use real bones? Never wheres the Halloween spirit in that! LOL I've been playing with the Idea of replacing the Foam skulls on the front with my found Raccoon Skull... I'm just really nervous about molding it to cast resin props so I have enough for both arms and still have the original for my Native american room. I could probably cast my deer skull to... Now the posibilites are limitless

Theres Plenty of roadkill I could scavange for my bones... and Honestly I hadn't thought of using them...But now that you mention it What an awesome Idea. I can get a femur some ribs, shoulder blades and pelvis.... Cast them all and as Emeral would say "BAM" authentic BONE THRONE Thanks for the suggestion The-Dullaham

John... Thats a great Chair. However... I'm thinking it needs to have hands at the end ontop of the skulls, Feet (where else but at the feet) It definately is a chair to model mine off of. i will probably not go so far as to make the whole thing out of bone... If I did it would be an antler shed chair. But using the Ideas I have in my beady little brain and the suggestions from here I think it will turn out great...

I thought the same thing. Head should be on the back of the chair. Arms should be the arms and the legs the legs of the chair.

I like the use of rib cages as the seat.

Aside from the artificial bones in that snapshot, it looks a lot like something I would make (Needs more wrought iron and wood)

I am not against artificial bones either, but they can be costly and in general, you only get so many varieties, as people do not make anatomical models of everything. Besides that, $th quality Buckys always need dremeling, because they have lines and marks from the molds and even when I use a Bucky skull, I religiously seal and delete that line around the top of the skull. It ruins the whole effect.

Not that I am knocking the Bucky. I own many and seldom leave home without at least two.
