Is there a standard size everyone uses for arms when building a form out of PVC pipe?

I use the calculator here to get measurements.Americans sleep peacefully in their beds at night because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.

I used that calculator once and wasn't thrilled with the result. I usually just use my measurements, taking into account the length of the couplers and the length of the pipe that goes into the couplers. If I want it bigger or smaller, I just scale myself up.

My bad. I was wondering about diameter. 2", 3" etc... Just for a standard sized prop. Thanks!

I use 1" D for my armatures. You can flesh them out with pool noodles or other padding if you want.
A couple I'm working on now.

Hey jdubbya, I have used the PVC before but have to admit I have not seen these "couplers" you use at the joints. I have used the typical elbow joints etc, but really like these. Do you get these at home improvement centers too or somewhere else? Awesome zombie by the way!!

They come from Spider Hill, and they are great people to buy from. Superfast shipping, and members on the furum;

Oh, I've done most everything with 3/4", but 1" would give you a little added strength, if you're concerned about winds or the height of the figure.
And, come to think of it, I much prefer to only use couplers where absolutely necessary (T from arm to body, leg to body, head to body), and use a heat gun to get the actual position. Cheaper, easier, less bulky.
