Has anyone ever used Light O Rama to control 3 axis skulls. LOR introduced a servo controller called the Servo Dog last year but I don't know how effective it is at controlling 3 axis skulls. I haven't had any luck on the LOR forum as its much more oriented towards the Christmas light crowd.

Openers your going to need the LOR software, I am looking also at the servodog as I already use LOR, and will be expanding into DMX also this year with LOR. The biggest plus for me is it can run stand alone, Or from my LOR system as I can be daisy chained right into the rest of my controllers. Other than that, I have no idea.

I am one of the LOR vendor partners (we sell and support LOR product line and serve as the first and second tier tech support.
I have been discussing this same idea with other folks who want to do the like.
Yes it can be done.
However there is not as of yet a simple programming method via the LOR S2 or S3 software suite to control the motions.
You may want to look at monkey basic software, coupled with a dongle and VSA off your computer to do the actually motion side, trigering the routine via LOR.
BTW Servodog has been available for about 4 years now.
You can also use the DC controller board directly, and or one of the DIO daughter boards.
The devil is in the details and if you have ever programmed a coordinated 3 channel routine in LOR (ie DMX RGB) you may see how muh of a challenge this still is in LOR, even using the superstar software module.
Please feel free to pick my brain if you need help.

Yes, I have controlled a quintet of three axis skulls with the LOR servo dog controller. It couldn't be easier. In the LOR software, the serov position is controlled by the intensity function. Neutral is 50%, full left or right is 0 or 100% depending on the servo mechanical connection. I have a number of sequences for the servo dog for halloween if you want them. My website is www.tauntonstales.com...you can email me from the website and see a video of the first sequence test.

I am wondering how long your 3 axis sequences take to program using the sequence editor.
Approx how long does it take to sequence 3 axis for a minute?

Hey Gorey
OK now I'm going to pick your brain, So how would I trigger VSA or Monkey Basic from LOR. So I can integrate it with the rest of my show, I am looking to use the SSC-32 Servo board, and VSA for the Skull and Arm servos.
I guess I should say also I am running S3 advanced, 64 channel LOR network and 2 open dmx universes, 1 300 channel and 1 90 channel using usb485b dongles.
I look forward to hearing from you.

You use a device like this
http://www.onlinecomponents.com/dlp-...tml?p=11249499
to sense a trigger signal and then tie it into VSA via a script with Monley basic

I thought you were going to say that. So I would need a relay off an AC or DC board to trigger into the DLP-IO8.
And I believe a 2nd laptop, one for LOR and one for VSA/MonkeyBasic.
Or just maybe I have to find a standalone solution.

If you use a pro controller (CTB) you do not need to run LOR from a computer.
Same if you were to add the mini director or pro director to the PC controller.
Then it is one laptop for monkey basic and I do not believe MB uses much overhead, tho I cannot speak about VSA
The other option is to sequence native LOR using the servodog or dc controller
Then use your choice of trigger connected to an accessory I/O trigger header with your CTB or PC series controller to fire off the sequence as needed.
I hope that makes sense.
Another option is to use a Hauntbot APC8 controller for standalone.
You can trigger that off the LOR using a 110/12v relay adapter, or its own dedicated trigger.

Got it, I need servo control and audio self contained, for head and arm so it looks like I'm back with the servo dog and minidirector. Unless I find something else b4 the Feb blowout.
Thanks
