Ok, this Twisty kit ($65 for the basic kit) is not on that site? triaxialskulllabs.com
The site reads "All TSL Twisty Kits Are Back And Ready For 2012" but I cannot find the product for sale?
They are only selling a few items like eyes but you couldn't make a 25% 3-axis with the products available.
Anybody know anything?

I was looking at Triaxial skull labs web site last night and the twisty kit was on there........after reading your post I looked again this morning and the twisty kit is not showing up. I did notice they are adding some new items so maybe they are having a problem setting up the items on the website?
If you e-mail them they have always been prompt with replies.

Twisty Kits Update –
02-09-2012,08:33 AM
Hello everyone, Don't have a chance to get on here much with work and everything else going on. Twisty kits were sold out last week when we got hit with an unexpected big order from overseas. But parts are already back in stock and the kits will be ready for ordering again by Friday Feb. 10th. I am also buried in design drawing approvals for an Eye kit to arrange for the custom parts and pieces ...ut oh now I've gone and done it

We have two designs on the table and tested so-far. We now are at the stage of final design drawing approval...that will determine the final manufacturing cost so we can move forward. I'd just be guessing at this point. We are taking our time to get things right and keep the price reasonable as well.

As a newbie to servo control, I was both pleased and challenged by the Twisty kit. The instructions are mostly photos with some text and sometimes weren't clear enough for me. It took my a few attempts to get my servos all in there without conflict. I still don't have my jaw servo right yet. The servo wire of the jaw servo conflicts with the servo arm of the tilt servo. I think I will take a lesson from hirez00 and drill another hole. I would also agree about it would be nice if more info was available about tools needed before you order. I did have a 2 1/2" hole saw, but not a 2/56 tap. I also had problems with the links for the tilt and nod being too long. I added another nut to move the collar a little lower. Looking at Evil Bob's video, he might have done something similar.
Even though it was a little more challenging that I expected, I think the kit was worth it. It still gave me a great starting point. As much as I like engineering, I have enough other things to do in general and for the haunt (and I do a big Christmas display, too). A kit like this saves me a lot of time. After learning from the 1st one, I know others will be much easier. Going forward, I might just get the kit without servos and skull, but we'll see.
The next step will be more with the programming. I've played with the TrackSkull trial and will be buying it. I think it will be very helpful with programming. I used to use VSA, but I am now using LOR. I found VSA a little too tedious to program. Even though the LOR controllers will work with VSA or LOR, I do a lot with lighting for both Halloween and Christmas and I just find programming LOR easier. I've written a program that converts the TrackSkull VSA import file to a LOR animation sequence. I'm still working testing it out to make sure it's working like I want it to. I might also add the ability to convert from the VSA export file. I'm planning on getting TrackSkull set up in puppet mode this weekend so I can get a better idea of the correlation between the joystick and the skull movement. I might get the TrackIR 5 camera once they resolve the compatibility issue with TrackSkull.

Jaw Servo Photos –
02-10-2012,10:29 AM
I've attached some photos of the "remounting" I did with the "jaw" servo for the Triaxial Skull Twisty Kit. The main reason my servos didn't fit is that I used HiTec 485B servos that are slightly "taller" than the futaba servos this kit was designed around. The only servo that wouldn't fit properly was the jaw one because the way it was shown in the photos, the servo arm would rub against the wall of the skull. I only need to drill 1 additional hole in the servo plate to rotate the servo similar to the one in the BACK of the skull plate. I used the one existing hole in the plate and drilled the 1 new one.
I am not positive, but I think the new Twisty kits now come with these new holes drilled in them to accommodate the use of the slightly bigger servos. When I looked at some skull plates I had recently ordered from Triaxial, it appears there are 2 new mounting holes that were not there in previous versions.
For anyone who questions the quality of the Twisty Skull Kit, I assure you that what they charge for the base kit and how GREAT they work with 3-axis skulls, nothing else compares in my mind and I have tried EVERY SINGLE 3-AXIS kit out there. It would take me a heck of a lot more time to have to start from scratch and build my own from start to finish and time = money, especially when the price that Trixial Skull Labs sells them for is nothing compared to what you really get in the long run.

nice job hi-rez, Though if you want to add 2 axis eyes ..... that might be a problem.
And, I would like to point out that I agree that the twisty is by far the best value for 3 axis, but I still think that homey / deathly need to be more informative about what you are buying, IE list of ALL tools needed and some sort of disclaimer along the lines of *WILL need moderate adjusting to fit your skull....
something along those lines....
