    Hey all!
This year is my first year running a home haunt! ive dont elaborate yard displays with animatronis but this is the first year with actors and an actual haunted house! I want to make a butcher shop illusion but im also interested in other illusions. I want to make scenes where people are like oh my god. im pretty much known for that cause i love the gore... but the butcher shop prop is big for me. I want to make a contraption that is able to lay on a table and im assuming the person slides underneath im not exactly sure! id love a tutorial or a video on some of this. I cant seem to find much!
    Thanks,
    Chris

I did something similar to this this year. I made a toe pincher style coffin with a top and bottom lid. The top lid was propped up for the ToTs to get their candy, but little did they know I was underneath the coffin and just when they got the goods I threw the lid open and BAM! All I did was build legs on my coffin so I could fit under it crouched. The bottom and back was cut out of the bottom half of coffin so I didnt blow my back out trying to fit in lol. If you want me to post pics just lemme know. Also try messing around with Froggys scents. They have one called butcher shop or something like that. It works just like those air wick things, you put the scent cup in a box and forget about it. It puts out quite a scent. Just another sense you can mess with. Scent is a REALLY powerful "image" mess around with it, youll be pleased.

Seems like it would be tough to get under something like that and have it look natural due to the position the actor would have to be in and crane their neck back to look like they are lying straight. Maybe if you built a shelf underneath for the actor to lie on and just stick their head up.

I would build it to look like an autopsy table with grooves for the blood to drain, and maybe even set up a small recirculating pump system and actually have blood run. A table something like this one: http://www.bjwinslow.com/albums/mad_..._200.sized.jpg I would build it angled with the feet lower than the head. This would allow better viewing angle, allow the blood to run, and also be more comfortable for the actor crouched underneath.

Not uncomfortable at all. I built it up so it looked like it was on a table with a skirt around it, similar to the way it is at a viewing. Ill put some pics up next day or two so you guys can see. It was really succesful.

    Thanks Rclsu13!

I have a basic idea and ive seen people do it before including a haunt ive went to but im thinking its as simpla as a wooden box frame or even foam.. thats raised on a table so an actor can lay down and the frame would go over then lay sheet over and a gorey body! id love to see pics that show good view!

I was referring to the pic the OP posted showing a body lying on the table. Without a shelf to lay on under the table surface, the actor would have to crouch, put head through the hole, and then crane their head and neck back to look like they were lying rather than coming through vertically.

Ok guys, here's a few pics of what I did last year. The paint picture is HORRIBLE I know, but it illustrates my point to a fair extent. Take what you need, hopefully it'll help you out.
