One of the Walgreens down here in Florida is managed by another former Pittsburgher and Steelers fan, and he's one of the sponsors of our Steelers club. I was talking to him today as we watched our guys kick the crap out of the Bungals, and I asked about the skeletons. Apparently us haunters weren't the only ones frustrated with getting them.
He told me he thought they looked great when he first saw them and placed an order for 12. He ended up only getting two in as they turned out being more popular than anyone thought, and his two were gone within an hour of going on the display. I guess us HF'ers and others made an impression because he said a lot of Walgreens managers were complaining to corporate that they were experiencing a high demand for Halloween stock and couldn't get what they needed. So, I think we got their attention.
He said that the corporate folks have promised them better stock levels for next year, and I told him I'll take five skeletons if he can order them for me. He said he'll order 20 this year and put aside five for me, and hopefully they'll all come in this year. So now might be a good time to make friends of your Walgreens manager.![]()

That was so interesting to read Bruzilla. Thanks for passing it on. Glad to hear that Halloween items, at least the Wallys, were a success for them and that managers were telling corp that they could have used more than they got. Would seem to bode well for seeing them back in 2012. I'll have to think about it and do some preliminary layout planning but I might like to add a few more next year myself. I think they would be most needed during my pirates theme, but also toying with my carnival guys being skeletons who are carnival workers dressed up to have fun. I know I'm going to need a number of "bodies" for the various booths workers.

I've been wondering if we should flood Walgreens with emails begging for more and maybe even showing what people have done with them. It couldn't hurt...........

Too bad we couldn't get an American company to manufacture these.
Americans sleep peacefully in their beds at night because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.

I ordered 4 Wallys and was really happy with them. Probably the best value I have ever gotten for a prop. However, I saw a version of the Wally skellies at Halloween City and although the mold seemed the same the painting was really bad. So I hope the painting is as good next year as it was this year. It's possible that we may all be disappointed.

Keep checking the Walgreens website from time to time. I checked last Friday (12/9/11) and was able to order 2. Went back awhile later to order 2 more, but they were sold out.

I checked with Jim last night to see if Walgreens was still getting these in, and he said if more are showing up online it's likely because they're doing a physical inventory and a couple may have been found that were stuck behind something or mislabeled, or a store returned them as NOS items, but as far as he knows they haven't ordered in any new ones yet.
