If you find any good ones, please post 'em. None of these are mine. Hoping to try some of these out with my Wonderwall projector.

I've always wanted to have a mirror in our haunted garage and have people go up to it and then a scary pop-up style face appears in the mirror. Is there a cheap and easy way to do this?

Yes, and you don't need a video screen to do so either. One way mirrored plexiglass in a picture/mirror frame, with a mask/prop head in a box behind it. A motion detector, & simple prop timer circuit to turn on the leds and light up the face (and turn them off after a few seconds).
More or less, it's the same way this effect is done. Except that they use a photosensor (basically a resistor which reacts to light by increasing resistance. Or decreasing resistance in the absence of light), which is much less reliable than a motion sensor in dark haunt environments.

@ OP: You pretty well have the best ones already. I've not found many good free ones, unfortunately.
I'd love to get Hi-Rez to do one for me. But it'd be a commissioned piece because I have a very specific idea in mind. If he does that sort of thing, ofc.

Thanks for your help! I plan on using a print out of Regan from the Exorcist. So I would just get one-way plexiglass and put it in front of the picture. Then I would put black cardboard behind the picture so the light from the leds wouldn't show through. Would this plan work?

Yes, just make sure that the cardboard is light sealed. Barring that, you are good to go.
Glad to help

Thanks Raven. What I really need is a fwd/rev aging Master Gracey video that morphs a lot quicker. The fwd/rev Master Gracey video link I posted is a full 2 minute from young > old > young again. Way too slow and subtle for passing trick or treaters. Guess I could contact the originator on YouTube?OP: You pretty well have the best ones already. We used a 2-way mirror in our garage haunt this year which we manned with actors, it was very scary, cheap and easy!! I picked up the mirror for $5.00 at a garage sale last summer; I had intended to use some kind digial projection, but ran out of time this season. I am going to try this for 2012!
What I am going to need is your standard flame thrower...

You're welcome, anytime
You can use many different video editing programs to time compress the videos to suit your needs. Adobe makes (bought, really) some very good ones, like Premiere Pro. If you're an Apple fan, Final Cut Pro is an viable option as well. In the freeware (open source) category, Vitualdub is pretty good software from what I've heard, but is mostly geared for usage with .avi files (and supports live stream video capture in windows too). Let me know if you need any other options, and I'll see what I can do
You can get Virtualdub here > http://www.videohelp.com/tools/Virtualdub
