Here's what we started on today!
As of yet unnamed headstone:

And the start of the headstone for Silas Thorne:

Rough idea of the shape. The bottom part will have one more thing of foam & there will be foam behind the columns with the name/date/epitaph on it.
And we spray painted the lion & columns with gray spray paint that looks like granite. Currently waiting for them to dry.

This one was inspired by a headstone theundeadofnight posted in the Show Us Your Stones thread.
So thanks for the inspiration

Sorry for the crappy pictures... but the garage light makes pictures yellow. Got all the carving done.

Nice stones, glad to see the Halloween spirit is still burning strong. Don't worry about the garage lighting, gives it a nice atmosphere effect.
Boo!

After looking at the pictures, I am not really happy with the wood pieces by the lion's head. At first I thought maybe a couple of vases but then I remembered these little gargoyles we picked up early this year... I spray painted them and I think they might look good bordering the lion's head.

Wow! You guys are wasting no time! Nice looking monument. I'm agreeing with you on the little wooden fleur de lis pieces. Might be too much. I'm even thinking the gargoyles might be a bit much but it's your call. The lion head and columns really make a statement. You may not want to "over-do" it with too many embellishents. Love the engraving on this too!

I think you're right jdubbya.
I think we'll leave the gargoyles off.
Now if only I can get Ghouliet to stop touching it and let the glue dry for the foam pieces. lol.Daughter of Ghouliet ~ Halloween Partners in Crime
