Great thread, I love it. Fantastic work. As far as not seeing the name, like jdubbya said there is plenty of room for some PVC candles that will light the underneath nicely.

Been a productive morning....

Finished Dremel'ing out the epitaph and then DryLok'ed it.

Then we decided it needed to lose a good sized chunk out of the corner.... so we went a little crazy.

I think it looks cool though.

And spray painted with a white granite paint.

I think the broken base is just perfect!
Idk, but absolutely untouched stones should never be found in an old abandoned cemetery. They should be broken, cracked, knocked over, sunken, covered with moss & vines, and weathered down to a stump...that you can barely even tell was at one time, a tombstone
Ofc, that's what I'm going for w/ an established "date" of 1239

Muahahahahaha! Somewhere, I have some pics from my honeymoon in Ireland of St Mary's Cathedral and the surrounding graveyard, just outside of Limerick. It was built in the 13th Century! If I can find those pics, I'll scan them in and shoot 'em over to you.

Much appreciated! It's difficult to find good reference pics of the really old graveyards.
If you'd like, I have many from the Necropolis in Glasgow. Albeit an 1800's cemetery, it has some incredible works that reside there. Actually, just pop in to this thread and you'll find many great photo's: Necropolis

I just put the finishing touches on Angelo Candela's headstone. We tried something new with the "chunk that is broken off the bottom left corner" of the tombstone. I cut the plywood base to follow the line of the missing chunk then I took some small pieces of foam put acetone on them and then glued them to the flat edge of the plywood base so it ended up looking like a large chunk of stone just broke off the corner. I really like the effect.
