well After sorting out the Halloween left overs in my small tool packed shed, I found my work top and tools I'd not seen for weeks!!!! this allowed me to start to make some lights that were on the job list for this year but the clock wouldnt wait for me so they went on the next years jobs list.

Whilst out collecting branches and twigs for our display this year we found some pieces of tree bark which I thought would do for something.

I decided that I would make some lights with the pieces. This is the largest piece and is around 24" long.I dremmelled out a basic scary face through the bark and trial fitted 3 wide angle red leds behind the eyes and mouth. I am quite happy how it's turning out. Obviously I will hide all the wires and leds so you cant see anything at all. I will try and get the other 2 finished tomorrow then it will be my first jobs for 2012 finished. we are on a roll lol...

Not sure wether to fit them to a mounting piece of timber so I dont get any red light cast to the sides or leave it as it is and just hang them on hooks on the walls I would mount them on our trees if we had any in our garden

Excellent idea! Might I suggest using a translucent material to diffuse the light over on the back side of the bark, to tone down the brightness of the led's a bit?

I think I will sort out something better, it's still WIP at the minute. i was going to fasten some spare red perspex over the face to help with glare and light issues. I will have a play around tomorrow and see what I come up with.

The leds aren't that bright it's just that me and my bad old camera makes them look that way. I will have to wait to see if santa brings me my new camera

No problems there, nearly everything is still a WIP with me Can't wait to see how this project progresses, it's off to a grand start! GL with Santa btw! Don't feel to bad, my new camera's rather shoddy at night shots, and absolutely hates UV lights.

I'm feeling lucky with santa, even if I buy it myself lol. I need I tripod though, I can feel myself shaking like a jelly on a plate when taking night shots lol
