Some may remember Vile Things and the animated obelisk he made. After having it on my build list for several years, I finally made a stab at it this year. While not as cool as the one built by Vile Things, I think it turned out pretty well. It was a hit this season.

I never saw Vile Things prop but have to say yours turned out pretty cool. Any chance you have a video of it at night? Looking at the obelisk I never would have thought there was something in there. And it all fits back together so nicely! No pinched toes!

Thanks for the kind words. I have a video of the entire yard at night. The obelisk is at @1:53.

Vile Things was my original on-line inspiration. I was upset when it shut down. I do remember the pneumatic pillar. You did an excellent job! Do you recall the character he/she made with the lantern? It was incredible.

Thank you bamtunebam - Yes - he did many outstanding projects. I wish I knew what happened and why he dropped from sight. Is this the prop to which you are referring? I believe he called it the Waylighter.

I didn't put together a How To; however, I have the a PDF of the original How To Vile Things made. PM with your email address if you would like a copy. The Whirl N' Hurl uses a ceiling fan motor.
