Follishmortal, I have to say that is one fantastic looking Mausoleum!!! It looks like it came from a real cemetery (or disney's Haunted Mansion for that matter)! Looks like real stone too! Outstanding!
"Look Honey, they have... uhm... 'Dead People' in the backyard!"
"Your body's dying. Pay no attention, it happens to all of us!"

awesome job on that!! My plan is to build one this summer...need it for storage as well as the display. Any tips or oops's would be helpful. I always seem to start a project and too late into it say "man, it would have been easier if I had...."

Thank you all for the additional feedback. I really appreciate it. You are all very kind. Answers to your questions are below.

Q: How did you make the ghost?
A: It is a static ghost. I used a mannequin head, mannequin hands, 2 X 4s for the frame, plywood for the base, plastic bags for adding bulk to the frame, a “ghost” Halloween costume and a large piece of thin transparent cloth as veil. I washed the costume in Ritt Whitener to get it to glow more. I am going to make a proper FCG next year so it has movement.

Q: What did you make the columns out of?
A: I actually used styrofoam columns. There is a local company that makes custom styrofoam pieces for parties, plays, etc. They made them for me.

Q: My plan is to build one this summer...need it for storage as well as the display. Any tips or oops's would be helpful.
A: This is a hard question. I don’t want to tell you things you already know. So here are a few quick thoughts. I was novice at this so I had to learn the hard way on several things. I used Google Sketch It (free program) to do a 3D drawing with the actual dimensions I was planning on using. It really helped me to get a sense of what the final product would look like. Based on the advice from the Davis Graveyard, I used the Dremel trio for the grout lines with the router bit. It was much easier to cut the grout lines in the foam than a regular Dremel (for me at least). The other great tip I got from Terra was to use Dryloc. It does a great job of hiding the woodgrain on the wood pieces. The Davis graveyard also recommended a sea sponge paint roller. That really helped speed up the faux stone painting process. Finally, if you plan to store it make sure you have plenty of storage space. It all breaks down but you still need a bit of room. I hope this helps. Let me know if I can be of further assistance.View photos of my haunt on flickr at http://www.flickr.com/photos/69476554@N06/
