Just a quick couple of pics and close-ups of my caldron creep. I used the plastic drop cloth and heat gun corpsing technique. This was my first time doing this. I got a little more detailed in the way I laid on and melted the plastic, but I love the way it turned out. I had several offers to buy her, and one asked if I would rent it. The eyes are those little white plastic balls you can get from Monsterguts for less than $1 a dozen. I just drilled a hole in the back and inserted a green LED. The black tape on the back of the eyes was to prevent the green light from showing through the plastic skin on the face. It worked out well, and when they're lit, you can't see the tape at all. She was my biggest crowd pleaser this year.

Very good! This last year I made a cauldron with glowing coals, thinking, "Maybe I'll add a witch or something..."
You've convinced me to go ahead and do it!

How did you make your creep stand? All the creeps I've seen have a PVC skeleton frame to hold the prop up.

    This looks great.

Looks great! Can you post a little something about the mechanics? I'd like to see how you motorized the staff.

When I did mine this year, I used a Bargain basement Barney skeleton, because the arm and leg bones are hollow plastic. I used threaded rod, heated and bent at the ankle and knee.

I carefully sliced open the lower leg bone, then slid it over the ankle bend to get it on the threaded rod. I cut holes in the ends of the femur and slid it down the top part of the rod. The rod is bolted onto the base and supports the entire cauldron creep. I ran the wires for the motor and eyes through the bones before I slid them onto the threaded rod.

After the bones were on, I used hot glue to hold them in place, and to fill the holes in the ends. I attached the PVC frame just above the femurs.

    Hope this helps.

Devils Chariot has a great tutorial on his cauldron creep, and there are other tutorials on stirring cauldron motors on this site:

Is your cauldron acting as a fog chiller, too? I wondered because I want to change mine to do that.
    Looks awesome!
