My Gemmy Michael Meyers (Rob Zombie version) has developed a strange problem. The motor in the arm does not reverse. All of the wire connections look fine throughout the unit. I have pulled him apart. There are no bad solder joints on the circuit board or motors. The head and eyes work fine. He turns at the waist, but the arm only goes down, not up. The motor will not reverse to lift the arm. I have removed and reset the head, taken apart the base and inspected every solder joint on the circuit board. The arm was removed and the motor unit taken apart. All of the gear drive components look fine. The arm motor drive belt was removed, cleaned and replaced. I can't figure out why the motor only spins in one direction. Otherwise he works fine.
Has anyone had a similar issue? I called and e-mailed Gemmy and they are useless. There is no product support whatsoever.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Eric

hello-i dont have one of these props but have had similiar problems with chinese made props.some times the motor that drives the gear box is to tight in the socket of the gear box so try loosening the motor hold down screws or re-aligning the motor to the gear box,the motor and gearbox gears may be pressing to tightly together.there could also be a micro switch either inside the gear box or external to it that is not making when the arm moves

My Michael Meyers did the same thing this year. Everything worked but his arm will no longer lift up. I took it all apart and ended up breaking the mechanism that causes his arm to lift so whatever. Live and learn, the crap you buy in stores just doesn't hold up.

I have taken the gearbox off and run the prop with the motor sitting freely in my hand. For some reason it only turns one way. It does not reverse. It runs for the proper amount of time, then stops and goes through the full cycle, but without reversing as it should. This is definitely not a limiting switch or binding issue. It seems to be a programming issue. I am very confused by this.
Worst case scenario would be to disconnect the arm motor and fix the arm in a permanent position, but I would rather have the knifing movement if possible. Any other suggestions?

I've got China on the phone right now. As soon as I figure out WTF is wrong with my DVD player, coffee mug, ceiling fan, cordless sawzall, George Forman grill, blow dryer, Slap Chop, universal television remote control, and office chair.... I'll ask about your Micheal Myers prop.
Stay tuned.......

hmmmm lets see--i would think that the arm would come down on its own without the aid of the motor so the motor would only have to turn one direction to push the arm up.maybe the motor is wired backwards?maybe the motor gear is slippng on the motor shaft,i`ve had that happen.
