Ok, so this years Pirate themed display went well. Ran out of time to get it all done, but all the good stuff was out and we once again won 1st place. Here is a link to this years display.
Our weekend halloween setup
So, for next year we are looking at doing a haunted princess castle. My daughter has been wanting to do the princess castle theme for a while now. We are asking everyone we know to throw out some ideas on what to do. I am thinking zombie Disney princesses, some evil witches or stepmothers, and some other stuff. Looking for that one main attraction that stands out.
Anyone have any good ideas that will go with a haunted castle type theme?
Planning on having the front a facade of a castle. Enter into the castle (haunted house), then exit the back into a cemetary scene.

Sounds custom made for a story about a little vampire princess.

Not sure what super single scene you could set up but a cutesy haunted bedroom comes to mind for part of it. Kid sized coffins are creepy.

I agree a death or zombie scene with children is a bit too much for most people. My kids are 8 10 and 11 so things need to be kept child friendly.
I think your advice is good, I am going to go more with a haunted castle than a princess theme. Out front on the fake castle front I am planning on one side having a tall tower with Repunsel imprisoned, about 15 feet above ground, letting her hair down to her rescuing prince. Only both will be skeletons. Not creepy super scary skeletons but skeletons. The prince skeleton will be climbing her hair to save her.
On the other side of the entrance I want the tower window to have a platform that one of the kids can stand in and talk to the crowd, welcome them to the haunt.
Out back will be a cemetery. The last room will be the wicked witch, maybe go with a shrek theme and the wicked prince charmings mother. Not too scary but some good props to grab attention.
I will have room for 2 more rooms, need ideas to fill them.
I do like the cute idea instead of the scary idea, but one room will have to be scary for my 11 year old and her friend. They want to scare people!
Thanks for the idea.
