This is the scarecrow my mother built for the 2011 Halloween season. This turned out to be, hands down, my favorite prop of the year. The head and ribcage are paper mache over a PVC frame that I constructed for her. It was lit up with a red c-7 bulb in its head with a blue floodlight uplighting the body from below. This monster stood over nine feet tall too!
    Hope you like

Its a cover of a song fittingly called "Scarecrow". The performers name is Meg Lee Chin. The song originally was written by an industrial rock band named Ministry

Just find somewhere to set the camera down, turn off the flash. and then use a timer function instead of pushign the shutter yourself. If its a digital camera you should be able to get an ok pic that way.

Theres nothing wrong with those shots, I wanted to see how the lighting worked with the prop. I don't get the pleasure of having people walk through my display only drive by so I need large things that are well lit to make an impact and visible at a distance. I had considered a scarecrow like yours but did something a little too similar last year with some sacrificed corpses.

My night shots are all done off a tripod using the same basic techinque that I told you to use. Hit the timer let the camera do the work. A good tripod is a great yard sale or thrift store find though.
