I blew up one relay already because i am dumb (12v on one side but using 120v on both sides). i got a new relay that is 120 each side, but i dont have a good understanding of which plugs go where.

i am trying to set the fog machine off by using a hacked motion sensor like other threads here have done and everything else is setup and working with the exception of the fog machine. I ran the wires to the manual switch on the fog machine, soldered them on properly - tested the motion sensor with a light and it all works - i just need this last piece of the puzzle.

can anyone with electronic experience tell me which two are for power from this picture and which two should be setup for the wires coming from the fog machine remote? I assume the squiggly line between 2 and 7 is for the power from the motion sensor, is that correct?

looks like pins 2 & 7 are the power to activate the relay

you probably want a normally open contact for the fog machine, so use either 1 & 3 or 8 & 6. either of these will activate the fogger when 120 vac is applied to 2 & 7

    good luck

    amk

ok back for more help. the relay works as expected, when it gets power it closes the circuit and everything except the fog machine goes off. i imagine the issue is now how i wired the leads to the manual switch, which is illustrated in the photo below. this goes the the 'green' manual button on the remote. did i do this part right?

    help help help :-)

I've hacked the exact same controller. I put a relay across the green button, but used a lower-voltage circuit to trigger the relay. As for the relay YOU are using, looks good. Pins 2 and 7 are DEFINITELY the coil.. put power across those and the relay will operated. Looks like you need to use pins 2 and 8, which are normally open contacts to connect across the green button. Should work otherwise.

this sucks, so close but so far away~! i tried every pin combination imaginable, nothing seems to send power to the remote. i even hooked a pigtail lamp up to it to see if it was the remote that wasnt working, the pig tail also did not come on using the pin combos above. i even opened the case and rewired my contacts just to see if that was it - nope.

im out of idea's, anyone have any?

2 & 7 are for the coil. How many pins are on the base of the coil? If it is 8 pin you need 1 or 8 to have voltage on it then 3 or 5 to the controller . Here is the way it should be wired for a 120 circuit.

Pin 2 and 7 from the motion sensor
Pin 1 voltage -constant to send power to the controller, Pin3 from relay to controller This is the N.O. contact. If needed I can make a wiring diagram for you . Hope this helps.

Also find which side of the manual button goes to the fogger ,that is where you want to connect the wire from the realy.
