OK, noob here, finished my very first animatronic ever tonight. Spliced together a Screaming Doormat from BigLots (labelled as indoor/outdoor) with the innards of a hanging ghost from AC Moore (LED eyes, vibrations, spooooky sounds on a push button activator) and mounted it into a 7' Reaper armaturte that has an oscillating fan head on a motion sensor. Everything worked fine inside. Put him outside tonight, everything worked ok. Just got up to start my morning about an hour ago, and doormat doesn't activate the mechanism. Checked batteries, no go. All my wiring looks good, I can direct line the mechanism but don't want to lose the doormat activation. Should I risk splicing into another doormat or save it for future projects?
Only variable is the weather; it dropped into the 30s for a while last night.

It's possible the cold may have done something. Wait a day or two in normal room temps and perhaps the mat will start to function again. Seen this happen with electronics. Sometimes they recover sometimes they don't.
