Curious why this is your last year? I have thought.. when will I stop doing this. I do this for the kids and because it's fun to learn/try to do something different and/or better each year. However, I think I will probably stop once my last kid is in his teens or so, maybe when they are all out the door, we'll see. That's at least 12 more years.

I love doing this for the kids but we have to bring eveything in at night because we get the older plp wanting to rip off stuff or tag it. My son is now in the military and my daughter (who is in her teens) wants me to continue but getting tired of the problems.

I really wish I lived nearby to help you clean up at night, just to ensure great Haunts stick around. Hopefully you're able to sell some props on here to "pass the torch" as it were.

My ex girlfriends neighborhood was one of those neighborhoods which connects from street to street for miles, with tons of children ranging in ages. I always had to bring in everything I "cared" about because I didn't want it stolen. It is best if you just put out the stuff on Halloween, and at night bring in as much as you can. The kids from 16-18 love to be rebels and steal stuff thats cool or creepy. Generalizing, but considering I'm 21 and not far off I think I can speak for most. It puts a damper on stuff though unfortunately.

Sorry to hear that you're hanging it up. Don't be a stranger here on the Halloween Forum.

There are other holidays besides Halloween? When did they start that?

I live in a fairly "young" neighborhood, but I still worry about that too! The thought of leaving my $50 + LED DMX lights even in our relatively safe neighborhood.. no way. I set up the day of as well.. speaking of..I gotta get crackin.

Wow! I'm sorry to hear of anyone hanging it up. There are so many years when I can't set up due to weather problems. This is the first time in several years that the weather has co-operated, so 3 of us in town have yard haunts. The other 2 are next door to each other, and will get lots of TOTs. I'm on the other side of town in a fairly remote area, and I had to advertise so I hope I'll get a TOT or 2. The vandal thing is unavoidable it seems, so I secure everything as much as possible for weather and possible damage of any sort. Good luck to all tonight, and may the "force" be with you! HM
You said you wanna what? with who? I don't think so!

Best of luck to you Arastorm! It is always sad to see "that house" not decorated. Kids will be talking to each other next year about your house, not being decorated. It is alot of work. My wife and I have no children, and we have been setting up our front lawn/porch area for the last 8 years. I use a couple of blue flood lights on the front of the house, and I love it when I hear the kids on Halloween screaming, "I want to go to the blue house!"
I put out most of my stuff the day of, last night was the first time I left some stuff outside (homemade coffin, 2 foggers, chickenwire zombie) and it bothered me all night. It is a very safe neighborhood, but you never know.
Again, Arastorm I wish you the best. I am sure that you have some great memories.
Happy Halloween!
