This year I'm diving into black lighting. My question is this....would using strobe lights along with a black light diminish the effect of the black lights ? Does anyone else use strobe and black lights together ? Any Help would be greatly appreciated.

Depends how fast your strobe is flashing, but overall the answer is yes. Strobes eliminate the blacklight effect while the light is on. The faster the strobe, the worse the effect will become.

For your specific application the only way to tell would be to try it and see if you like it.

I'm running a mad science lab this year that has both effects. It's doable. You'll get it.

I use both black lights and strobes, but my strobes are also black lights. So I get the strobe effect without canceling the black light effect. The black light strobes That I use are the battery opperated small boxy type, maybe 5" square and 2" wide kind with led type black lights. You can usually find them at Big Lots or Michaels for around $10-12. I've used them for a few years and they work great!! Hope this helps.

I agree on the strobe black lights. I think the white coming off the strobes would diminish the blacklight effect too much.

I went to Home Depot the other day to look at colored bulbs and found they had those "corkscrew" shaped energy saver lights that actually produce the black-light effect. Unfortunately the black-light lighting is too dim, so I used the blue version of the bulbs.

I was delighted to see that though it is not mentioned, these blue bulbs actually create the black-light effect as well as casting some strong blue light. I think because of the strength of the bulb it would not be diminished by a strobe light.
