    Hey guys-
I am having trouble with some singing pumpkins. I created a custom video, the output resolution is 1920x1080 (hd). I just tried to hook up the projector, and found out that it didn't have an HDMI port on it. So I had to connect via component (RCA). The resulting video is a little pixellated and blurry. I adjusted the focus, but there's still square pixels showing in the image. There's some noise around certain areas as well.

For kicks- I hooked up the original singing pumpkins video with the same results (the one you buy the dvd for $25). HOWEVER- I noticed this resolution on the video file is only 720x404. Isn't that standard resolution?

Here's my point/question- if MY video is pixellated because it's an HD Video being downsized to a standard size via RCA cable - then wouldn't the OTHER video be displayed without the pixellation (assuming that's standard resolution)?

I tested on 2 completely different projectors (both only have RCA Inputs) with the same exact results.

BTW- it's not an issue of projector distance as I've tested from 1' to about 8' - it's showing squares no matter what...

Oh- and one of the projectors is brand new, 3000:1 contrast and 2500 lumens

I appreciate any input you guys have! I gotta get this project done asap! Thanks in advance!

    ok more info here-
I just converted the original video down to 720x480 using adobe Premiere. The resolution is even WORSE now. I'm using a digital file on a WD TV (western digital's solution for a digital media center). Component out of the WD TV to component into the projectors. Any ideas?

Are you using component or composite cables?

try using a component (RGB) to vga cable. Its what I use on mine since i dont have hdmi on my projector and it will do HD or maybe its a setting on the projector or WD menu that when using component to use 720 or 1080. I know when I hooked up my bluray for the first time to my tv using component, it looked like crap until i went into the player settings and it was default to 480, i changed it to higher resolution and fixed it

Process of elimination. I think it's Adobe Premiere for some reason. I'm running a ton of tests now- I'll report my findings when it's all done.

Not sure if this will help but, I'm running an 06' MacBook to a 2001 Epson Powerlite 600p for all my projections. I use the monitor out on the MacBook to a mini DVI adapter, then adapter to the Monitor/Computer in at the Epson. If there's a computer/monitor in, hopefully DVI or dual DVI then you're OK. If not, you'll never achieve 1080p or even 720p. My native resolution is 800 by 600. This easily projects 720p onto my 6ft screen(PVA Shower Curtain Liner - $5.99) clear as day. Hopefully your brand new projector has more than RCA inputs. If not, I scored mine on eBay for $90, working. I hope that helped a bit.

Yeah- this new one I have now has HDMI inputs. The problem I'm having is the screen door effect. My video source is definitely 1080p, and the projector supports it- but my animations/videos are showing pixellation at about 4-5' in distance. It just doesn't make any sense. Any ideas?

What's the output resolution of your projector (which projector are you using?). Can you convert the video to the same output resolution as the projector natively supports?

I have tried that- with all 3 different projectors. I even took the original Singing Pumpkins DVD and used that- same exact results. It really doesn't make sense to me. I've got to be missing something.
