I am finishing my Monster in Box and I installed my new 12 volt motor from Monster Guts and I have run into a problem/ question.
When I just plug it into the wall it pulses about 6 times then goes into the regular speed.
When I plug it into the motion sensor (one designed for a light with a plug adapter) it seems to pulse alot more like 30 times before it kicks into regular motion.
I bought their power adapter (12 volt looks like a laptop plug) so I should have the right adapter and have it going on the high speed.
So my questions are:
Is this normal?
Is there a problem with the motor?
Is there a problem with the adapter?
Is it a problem with the motion sensor part?
At this point it would be do-able it kind of looks like the monster gets angrier after the motor kicks into full speed but if I could get it to kick in faster that would be better.
any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have several MG motors and none of them pulse on startup. I use MG's adapters (as well as others of varying amperage) and never saw anything like you're describing. Did you get in touch with Dean (the owner) to see if he has some advice?

what sequence do u have this from wall outlet to prop?

Not sure what you mean by sequence but I will take a shot at answering.
I have a multi plug that comes in to the box that is directly plugged into the wall from there I have the motion sensor light plugged into it and the motion sensor light has 2 sections one has a light in it (a curly Q one) and the other side has an adapter for the motor. Not sure if this makes sense or if that answers your question.
But either way the motor pulses even just plugged into the wall directly, just not as many times.
To answer the first response I will email Monster Guts but I wanted to see if anybody else had this happen to them and if it was normal.

Are you using the quick connectors from the power supply to the motor? I've had issues with these over the years making good contact. I've come to the point where I just cut them off and crimp on my on quick connects they are more reliable.
Just something you might want to check. Eliminate the simple stuff first.Boo!

Jack's comment reminded me of another thing that might be related to this. I couldn't be sure from the info in your first post if you're using both the adapter and a power supply from MG. Some of the third-party supplies I use have problems mating with the MG adapter - the center pin in the MG adapter is too small to contact the inside of the barrel connector. Most of the time it means that you get no power at all, but I have had intermittent contact problems. I just (carefully) bend the center pin a bit to one side to make contact and the problem is fixed.

basically the inbetween posts have adreesed ur issue break down your connections if u use the "plug in" eliminate it and just attach the wires start from go and when the motor hesitates eliminate or adjust what u hooked up

Does the motor do this without a load on it (not connected to the box)? It takes more amps to start a motor than after it gets up to speed. If it only does this with or without the motor connected to the box it's not a linkage problem
But if it only does this with the motor connected to the box then my guess is that once it pulses a few times some of the weight is lifted and the motor is able to pull enough amps to keep going.

It does do it with or without the load on it. I did some test runs today and it was very hit and miss when it did the pulsing. I did get an email back from Dean at Monster Guts and he thought it might be the power source he gave a few ideas which I will try tomorrow.
Thanks everybody for your suggestions and help.
