Thread: building an old rock well

I am doing a haunted woods & want to create the scene from THE GRUDGE where the girl climbs out of the old rock well. I have tons of large river rock perfect for landscaping on the site. However, I really do not want to use mortar and bind the stones together permanently as it will need to be taken down after Halloween. My H thinks we can use a 30 gallon trash can cut down to about 2 1/2 feet high, wrap a length of wire around the can leaving a gap between the can & the wire of about 12 inches. You fill in the gap with the rocks, stacking them around the modified can with the wire bracing them in place. Since I will have an actor climbing in and out, would this be stable enough to be safe? Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

as for being safe ... i don't know ... build it and see how stable it is, maybe?

others on these sites have used styrofoam to make the wells have you done a search?
