Hi has any one made an Axworthy ghost that glowed? I was thinking about making one out of a hollowed out wig head, with a portable black light mounted inside. Would that work?
Thanks

It could work but you will have to do a couple of things. You will have to use black light (UV) leds to light it. Portable black light will be too big and too heavy. The other thing is lighting your object. It is going to be kinda tuff. The leds will need to me mounted near your wire pointed down in order to light up the white cloth. If you mount it inside the head the cloth will be too close to light up. You will have dots instead of a glow. The other thing you can do is lightly sand the led so it will be more diffused.

Using glow sticks in mine. I have a bunch of the larger military chem lights (glow sticks) that will last about 3 days. Even with the cheaper glow sticks it still might be cheaper to replace a couple a night than replace a couple of batteries a night.

Thanks. I didn't think about using glow sticks. Also, lighting it from above with a light that moved with it is a good idea. How much will a black light illuminate outside?

I just posted a video of my Axworthy flying a couple minutes ago then saw this thread. And Yes I got it to glow really nice
. Run off of a 9-volt battery, 8 super high intensity UV LED's mounted in the skull facing down to illuminate the cloth. 2 Red LED's for the eyes. Here's the link again (sorry about spamming the board with it mods...)

Ok, that looks really good. Would a blue lightbulb inside the head cause that th glow? Your ghosts body looks really good, but I couldn't see the head that well.

Yeah, you can see the head a bit better in person, but it's mostly the red glowing eyes that you make out when he makes his turn off the top gutter. I don't know about a blue light bulb though, it would take way more power than what I'm running for the UV LED's...

Cool, so do you have a build log? Where did you get the LED's? How did you mount them?
Thanks

I only illuminate mine with the light coming from my LEDs in the cemetery. The ghosts are dimly lite until they run through the light (which brings them into view...but not brightly visible) then back out of it quickly.
However, it worked to my advantage because it was the MOVEMENT in the spectators peripheral vision that most of them see first. This movement causes them to pause and turn....as if startled....then they look at the situation more closely. You could then see a smile come across their face as they realized these little phantoms (I ran two on mine) were slowly circling and haunting the graveyard."Certainly of death? The UV LED's I got online directly from China, the highest intensity available. I used a board and resistors I got at Radio Shack, and how to wire it from http://led.linear1.org/led.wiz, used a 9-volt wiring clip with battery, and a micro switch to turn it on and off. I cut out a portion of the underside of the skull to screw the board in so it is mounted fairly flush. The battery is mounted to the back side of the board inside the skull. I can take a couple pics if you'd like...
