This year I am trying to make a pirate theme display. And I have been using the expertise of you guys and its been a great help so far.

I have one question. The captain's wheels seem in to good of condition so I am aging it quite a bit making it look like its been under ground or water. the question is the pegs that the captain turns the wheel with would it look wrong to have some of the pegs missing? I think people would expect it to look complete even if its old and decrepid looking. what do you think?

Hey jollygorilla - Just my two cents, but I think it completes the look with all the pegs there. If anything, maybe one or two that has been splintered off slightly, but still enough there to have a complete set.

What about some seaweed or other underwater stuff hanging from some of the pegs?

I like the idea of adding seaweed or moss to the wheel. Maybe splintering a few of the pegs and/or possibly breaking one of the spokes would be a nice touch. If you are handy with a propane torch, you could add a little "Flame aging" to it.....

I would love to see pics when you are done!
Thank ye matey, from the bottom of me scurvy heart......"One Eye'd" Mick

The ships' doctor warned me that I've been partaking in too much wine, women and song and told me that I should cut back a bit.........I am really going to miss the singing.....

Keep the pegs. I find that a little dark Minwax stain gives mine an older "wet" look.
    Undead and loving it!
