has anybody used foam wrap, such as the stuff used for protecting mail shipments...etc here's a link

there's different thicknesses and widths, but, overall, it's faily cheap...I was pondering how it would work in making wide fake tree trunks and using hot knife to carve the grooves. Sure there has to be some other cool ideas this item could be applied to, just looking for ideas and since it's so affordable in large a quantity.

alternatively to this idea, has anyone tried to heat up a 4x8 sheet of pink foam to bend it such as around a concrete foam? I would think a small heat gun wouldn't do it, need something with a lot of blowing power, maybe even a propane forced air heater might work.

Since the foam is so damn expensive, I wouldn't even try that experiment. I'd just carve it round. Otherwise, you ruin one whole slab of foam.

Hey spookyJ - I have thought about trying to do some corporsing with it. Instead of the thin plastic, I thought I might take the heat gun to some of this.....just didn't want to mess up a prop. Was going to try on the off season on a spare bone to see what happens???
