We officially named our haunt with a sign today, "Macabre Acres".

    ma ca bre
    \mə-ˈkäb; -ˈkä-brə, -bər; -ˈkäbrə\

    Definition of MACABRE
    1. having death as a subject : comprising or including a personalized representation of death
    2. dwelling on the gruesome
    3. tending to produce horror in a beholder

    Origin of MACABRE
French, from (danse) macabre dance of death, from Middle French (danse de) Macabré
    First Known Use: 1889

Synonyms: appalling, atrocious, awful, dreadful, frightful, ghastly, grisly, gruesome (also grewsome), hideous, horrendous, horrid, horrific, horrifying, lurid, horrible, monstrous, nightmare, nightmarish, shocking, terrible, terrific

Salvaged (from a dumpster) garden canopy corner posts. Then, we made letters out of styrofoam. Coated them in foam factory 'foam coat' and 'boost', then painted black. Hard as rocks now. Built a wooden frame, painted black. Attached letters with sturdy velcro tape. Hoping it all holds through wind and rain. Corner posts will be decorated more with skulls, PVC candles, etc.

We are slow to get the rest of the haunt up. We'll post as soon as we do

Looks great! Wish I could find such cool stuff in the dumpsters around here! What exactly is that foam coat and boost your talking about? Is it a sealer or harderner or what? Intrigued.

Great choice. I love that word: the way it looks, the way it sounds, and everything it means.
There's something wrong with me chemically, something wrong with me inherently.

That looks really nice! Very gothic feel to it.

Thanks for the compliments. We're getting rain tomorrow, so we'll see how it holds up.

Hot Wire Foam Factory was at the National Haunter's Convention back in May. They taught a class too, so we wanted to try their products. We bought the crafters kit. My boyfriend says it's like a stucco. Only problem is that it didn't seem to go very far. We kept having to mix more and more. For the price, is it worth it?

Rain tomorrow should be a good test. Their coatings and glue: http://hotwirefoamfactory.com/FoamCoat-glue-foam/

Since "Macabre" is the "dance of death", I'd love to pose some skeletons in a dance formation.
