    Looks great!
I'm making one now, only mine is "old, worn, cheap and full of gaps" .
My next one will be "newer and better'. Hopefully as good looking as yours is!

Thanks everyone! We used the plans for the $25coffin made out of fence panels. On Halloween I dress as the grim reaper with the cloak and a metallic skeleten face. I wear my tallest boots to make me taller and have a scary low voice I use. I sit on the porch with the candy in my lap, the fog machine is going, stobe light flickering and the scary music playing. I am almost (notice I say almost) ashamed to admit that I have scared tots to the point they wont come on the porch to get the candy. I am sooooo bad. BUT...if they are that scared I take off my mask and invite them up to get their candy. I had one dad that was waving at me from the bottom of the porch. I figured he didnt want me to scare his kid so I took of my mask as he came up the stairs. I still scared him though, but dad was laughing so hard he was bent over. He told me "I wanted you to really scare him." I laughed and said I told him I thought he was waving me off. I hope they come back this year with all the other props we have up...I'll get him good! Again...I am soooo bad =)

You know I do this just as much for the tots as for myself. I can remember being so scared of the house that was all spooked out and the rush I got as I was brave enough to still get the candy. I want to give that same feeling to the kids like I had. I think its a lost art that is fading fast.
Hmmm..guess the guy across the street better step up his game. He dresses as a scarecrow and sits in a rocking chair but no music, lights or any other props. I guess I better not tick him off too much as he is the local judge lol. I might have to be nice to him in case anyone complains =)

Hey, I did the same exact thing! I mean, I used the same plans and stuff. Although, it did cost me more than 25 bucks to build. How much did yours run?

Here's a link to my build pics and finished product:

    My First Coffin Prop

How long did it take you guys to make it? Took me about 5 hours or so I think. Well, I did stop to have lunch.

Oh, and don't be ashamed to say that you'e scared kids so bad they won't ask for candy. I've done the same thing. In fact, I made little girls cry. I guess that's the response when they say "Trick or Treat" and I handed them a severed foot. LOL

Oh my Joey...a severed foot! That is just too funny!

It cost us around $30 total in fence panels then the price of the screws was around $5 so $35 in all at this point. We did buy 4 extra board and nails. You know..in case of mistakes =) We are thinking of staining it a grey color so it looks like it just came out of the ground. That will happen this weekend so its dry for halloween.
Joey your coffin looks great! Ours has gaps in it too, you just cant see them at that angle. I am planning on putting a light in it this year then next year have it motorized to lift the lid with a skelly inside. Sooooo many possibilites!
    Happy Hauntings!
