I'm trying to find a plastic rum brown jug to make my skeleton pirate look like he's drinking, however I can't seem to find one so I thought someone here might have some idea. I'm thinking about taking a 2 liter plastic bottle and starting from there. My problem is once I've cut the plasticwhat do I use to glue it togetherand how do I paint the bottle? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

We used a wine jug. My husband works in a restaurant and they use cheap wine to cook with. Some even had plastic corks. The jugs are glass but look pretty realistic with tea inside and a label that says XXX

Would a 1 litre jug be too small? Maple syrup around here comes in a light brown coloured plastic jug -
I've used them as moonshine jugs before.

I like the 2 litre bottle idea. I think if you remove a section of the center, you can just push the two halves together. Add a small ring to the neck ( not sure if this would be needed). You could use a 1/4" thick piece of 1" PVC and wrap with tape to round off the edges. Then, paint the whole thing with a shade of brown paint for plastic. Once dry, you can detail with acrylic paint.

My local Dollar Tree has large beer mugs for $1 (of course.) If you painted it brown and added some distress marks it would be just about perfect. But, if you are worried about the glass breaking then I would head to 7-eleven and get a 54oz Double Gulp, paint the cup brown and add the handle and the distress marks.
Undead and loving it!

scarychery I like the Maple syrup idea, is there a name for the product or maybe a web site so that I might order one or some? I also like the two liter idea I'm going to try several. Of these ideas as well, thanks hunters.

I don't really want to use glass because I'm going to attach it to one of the Walgreens skeletons I've turned into pirates. A glass container would be a bit too heavy, something plastic would be lighter and easier to craft into a rum jug.

Thanks

Based on th eother posts, maybe I was on the wrong track.
I was thinking of something like this... But the handle would be round.

You could also make something out of mache in just about any shape you'd like.
Or, carve it out of foam. Lightweight and the possabilities are endless.

If you have a bj's brewery you can buy a "growler" which is basically a1 gallon whiskey jar filled with beer. Usually cost about $15 full
