Ahoy mateys! Here be me animated prop. Savvy? A fine tribute me thinks indeed to Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean ride in Anaheim. Arrrgh, enjoy me efforts. Yo Ho.

Super cool idea! I could see something like that on my pirates raft. How are you controlling the skull?

Glad you liked it. Skull is a POTC Room Alarm. It's motion activated and only says a few generic phrases. My plan is to hack it next year with real POTC sayings from the ride. Happy Haunting!

Chef, glad I asked about the skull. Never knew something like that was out there. Perfect for my little kids haunt area when I do a pirates theme. Hate to use anything really nice for there that the kids could break, since it will be down at their height level and close enough to touch. Just picked one up on eBay for a reasonable price and not sure if I will use it just like you did or maybe place it on a sign post. I do like how you used the red "shower curtain?" for the sails. I was planning a larger ship for the main area and a raft for the kids'. Plan to use the clearance priced Abyss "wave" projector along with it for the water. Picked that up 2 years ago thanks to a heads up here on the forum when they were closing out. Can't thank you enough for this inspiration though. I love to add animation where I can.

BTW I picked up a POTC @WE mini mural at BIG LOTS that they were clearing out for $5 and will turn that into signage for the haunt. Will cut it out and mount it to a board and might repaint it with GID paint if I go that route. The talking skull will be icing on the cake. Thanks so much.

Well, I'm part way to doing something along these lines. My POTC Talking Room Alarm arrived and it's sensor is pretty good. Like that you can set it to triggered alarm sayings or triggered pirate jokes. Gives a nice versatility to it. Maybe the jokes would be good in a pirates bar. Nice qaulity too. My pirate is the one with the swords. I saw that there was another one with crossbones instead. Assume from a different movie version. Anyway cool motion triggered talking pirate skull. Definitely recommend and thanks again for showing off your Jolly Roger!

Thanks for all ye kind words mateys. Red curtain is actually fabric from Joanne Fabrics. Got it on sail and only needed a yard. My POTC Room Alarm came with the swords. I used a small hacksaw to cut them away from the skull, seeing as how I only wanted the skull. My plans are to hang the Jolly Roger above my door. There will be enough fabric "sail" to over hang the door a bit. Should give a slightly spooky entrance to all TOT's who dare venture beyond me sidewalk.....
