    I usually use 1" ID plastic tube, 4" long. I've also had good results with a paper towel roll.

    wow, I guess I made the mistake of getting a 4inch pvc end cap with a coupler... anything smaller seems to narrow a view.

    Using a 1" ID tube, you can get really precise as to the trigger location for the prop. Even at ~15' away I have to move my hand directly in line with the tube for the sensor to see the heat source. Measure the diameter of your sensor so you get the right size tube.
