So how much room on a branch or smooth surface do you need? I'm trying to determine if I have enough room to buy one of these for my haunt.
The one I'm looking at...

they fly by running down a line or cable...... mounting should be nothing more than an eye bolt or even tieing it to a tree/pole...... depends on how your application would be....

Typical flying crank ghosts require 3 mounting points. Most people hang them using eyebolts that are fastened on the top of the frame. Kinda like this:

There are other holidays besides Halloween? When did they start that?

Could make a platform that hangs out from the tree, sorta like a deer hunting stand.

You can make a 3 leg bridle. Use small chain or wire. Connect the 3 legs where the center of gravity is and hang from one hook.
this method will require some stabelizing lines made out of fishing line to keep it from twisting in the wind.

You could also use a couple lengths of 2x4 and run across 2 branches or attach to trunk of tree..... it is hard to say, it really depends on your particular application/tree

A better way of putting the ghost in a tree is to run the crank on the ground. You only need three eyelets in the branches of the tree spaced out properly. You have two hands and the head. They could even be in a straight line, although I've never tried that. The crank can be mounted on the ground, or in my case, I mounted it to two saw horses, off to the side, with the crank mechanism facing up at the eyelets. I used a wper motor. Hide the saw horses and there it is, a truly inspiring FCG with no apparent overhead machine to move it. The wind will have it dancing, but beware of the big winds. They can put your ghost up in the tree and it's a pain to get it untangled. Good luck!!
