    Good Evening Everyone,
I am going to be setting up a monster in a box for one of my displays. I found the Bride of power pack at Monsterguts and wanted to know if anyone had used this and if so how do you like it? Here is a link: http://monsterguts.com/index.php?act...&productId=164

Anyway...I was originally going to have my coffin (hubby is finally building me one! yippee!!!) lift up but when I saw the monster in a box I had an inspiration strike =) We have an old chest in the gargage that is just perfect for the prop. I looks like an old steamer chest with the curved top, rusted, old and beat up. Heck it even has cobwebs on it too lol. All I need is the mechinism to make the lid lift up and down. Thankfully it is not very heavy. I also want to get some plastic chain and add that to the chest with a lock, after painting of course.

What do you think of the bride of power pack? Is it worth the investment or should I just go to the auto store and grab a cheap wiper motor, then go from there. I have no idea of how to connect just a wiper motor though so I would need help if I went that route.
    Thanks for helping!

Really, that depends on you, for me, I would just go buy a motor and put 12v to the low wires.... save some money for another prop.

Ok...I love to save money! But I am not sure how to wire it. Let me do a search and see what I can come up with. I am no stranger to wiring things. I rewired our whole downstairs during remodeling. I just need to find instructions on how to do it.

Well, it really depends on which motor you get, as a primer , look at the pics on the link you posted, down near the bottom they have arrows pointing to the "fast" and "slow" set of wires.....

hope that helps, take a 9v and a jumper wire and just test pins until you get a speed you are happy with.... *though, if you wind up using 12v, it will be faster than it would with a 9v, hope that makes sense.

In talking of 9v are you talking a battery or is it something else?

either, 9v battery or a 9v power supply / wall wart. you can use any power in the range of about 9v -15v on a wiper motor. you can slow it down or speed it up depending on the voltage, and on which input on the motor you use. So, experiment a little until you find a speed you are happy with cheers

I must not be thinking of the right batter. The little tiny, square 9v battery you can put into smoke detectors? That cant be right...it wont have enough power to run the wiper motor. I am missing something here I just know it. What am I missing?

Ok..I went back to monster guts to see what the power adapter, 12v 5 amp actually was. It appears to be the same thing that you use to get power to your pc from the wall socket. Is that correct? If so..I can find them on ebay/newegg but how do you attach it to the wiper motor. Take off the round plug in end (that normally goes into the pc) and hard wire it into the motor using the wires you expose? If that is right then I can buy those two items much cheaper than what I was looking at. For around $30 without too much rewiring. If that is right please let me know so I can order it and get it before Halloween. If not...what do I need to order. All the charts and graphs are gibberish to me. Im a hands on kinda girl =)

This is what I am looking at on newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16812203037
And this is what I see on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Power-Adapte...item27b98670bd

Is this what I need to power up the wiper motor? Or is there something else that I need to get?

I looked around and I found this. You know how you buy a new pc and never throw away any of the old wiring. Well...I have this exact model: http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-AD-062A1...-/200658473684

Will this work to power the wiper motor? If so do I need to get a specific motor or can I just grab anyone that is a 12v one and splice the wired into it. Assuming I am correct in this.
