Husband's father back in the 70s decided to try to shave using a straight razor, but ended up hacking up his face and threw the razor in a drawer where it remained for the last 30-something years. Husband ended up with it and he gave it to me to make a prop out of it.
Had to be Sweeney Todd, and I made a paper label that reads:
Evidence ID: 10312011
Date Collected: 13 October 1888
Description: Straight razor found near body of victim discovered in crypt beneath St. Dunstan.
I added some hot glue web strands and a small plastic spider and left all of the dust on the glass and frame, so looks pretty good and creepy! It's still super sharp so now it's safe in a old frame I found in the local thrift store (was a shadowbox containing a falling-apart butterfly that couldn't be salvaged). It's also got tiny spots of rust on the blade that sort of look like dried blood if you squint.

You are just too darn creative! What a great idea!
Americans sleep peacefully in their beds at night because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.

Great idea! Sweeney Todd is a great scrarey story and doesn't show up in alot of displays. I'm glad they invented safety razors, I cut myself up enough with them
