This year will be my first in setting up tombstones.

What seems to work the best in staking foam tombstones in the yard?

    Thanks

I set mine up yesterday. This was my first year ever so I just bought the cheapo DT tombstones until next year. Several people had recommended using wood shishkabob sticks and I must admit...they worked out great..pain in the a** but they are holding and it was windy today and my blind poodle ran all over them and they stayed up. The neighbors thought I was crazy with my bucket of water and then hammering in kabob sticks but it was worth itand besides my monster I named Fred comletely understood and he knows I am crazy..lol

I use wooden stakes. I know some people on here use rebar. I've had good luck for the last three years and I live in a pretty windy area.

I use a mixture of tent stakes, wire and bamboo stakes. On my larger and tombstones I use the wire from old political signs to give them a little more support. I'm ashamed to say it, duct tape to hold them in place. No body notices the backs of them or at least they are kind enough not to say anything.

    I'm always trying something new.

i use wooden stakes, from lowes, and velcro, from walmart fabric dept., to velcro the stakes to the back of the stones

the velcro is the type that has the sticky backs

here's a pic, you might be able to make out the stakes in the back of the stones

thx, been using velcro for years now, never had anything get blown away ... in fact you have to be careful separating the stakes from the stones, they hold that good!

Want something that will never blow over or ever have to worry about even if it rains or snow's? Build your tombstones using sandwiched foam board and inside the layers place two pieces of 1/2 pvc pipe. Then use two 2 foot section of small diameter re-bar hammered in the ground which you slip your tombstone pvc embedded pipe into, guaranteed tombstone will stay put!
