Check out my flying Ghost from last year. I used a treadmill motor and controller with a Party City ghost stripped down to reduce weight. Used 200lb test line so I could put lots of tension on since one section is 110' feet long.

    What do you think?

Going to get him setup this weekend.

Hey, Haunted Neurons! Where have you been hiding??
This is one of the best Axworthy set-ups I've ever seen! That's a neat trick of using two lines to hang the ghosts.
    Really nice!
I like your vid on the cauldron fog chiller, too.

    Great job!

I just gotta know. How did you tension the line and how noisy is the motor?

Yes, I like that one too. Was already planning to stop by Party City tomorrow and pick up one of the large plastic cauldrons anyway . . . May have to attempt this build.

Since the poles are about 12' high they flex pretty easily. I have a guide wire on the back side of each pole opposite the ghost line anchored to the top of the pole and to the ground. This offsets my base tension. If I need more I just re-anchor the guide line while pulling back on the line some more. I need to do this adjustment on only one pole. I am not using any kind of adjustable pulley mount.

The motor is pretty quite. If you listen on the video when the ghost goes by the motor you can hear what it sounds like as the video does have sound although it just ambient noise as I am not saying anything. The only real noise is the flapping of the rubber band that is the drive belt. If I make it go real slow the motor does put out a low hum that dissapears when sped up a bit.
