Don't think I've seen a mention in the prop thread about the Travel Channel's new series "Making Monsters" and thought there should be. It started tonight, Sunday 10/02, with the episode "It's Not Easy Making Monsters" (1 hr) and followed the guys at Distortions who were preparing their props to take to TransWorld.
I couldn't bring up the schedule for the show on the Travel Channel's website, so not sure how many episodes it will have or when they air. I do know that tonight's episode aired twice tonight -- on DirecTV Satellite on the West Coast it was on at 5 pm PT with a repeat airing right now at Midnight early Monday a.m. PT.

it's funny, they (Distortions Unlimited) essentially have an hour long commercial on national cable tv, yet their website is partially broken, i wanted to look at their product line, but couldn't.
oh well, some get it, some don't

I saw the first one. I'm not here to knock anyone especially Distortions, but its a TV show. The producers didn't look for the most professional big production "best " prop makers for the show. They looked for the one that would most entertain the "average" viewer. Hence making a popular show. Think about it, OCC doesn't make the best bikes in the world in my opinion but a little dis-function goes a long way for TV. ie, I would never let a shipping company load one of my props! Hope the show and Distortions does well. I will continue to watch

I thought it was a nice behind the scenes look for those of us not involved in the professional haunt scene. I agree with robzilla though, they need "characters" and "problems" to make the show interesting. I'll definitely tune in for next week.

I posted this a few days back somewhere else on here.....it's a 4 episode mini series on Sunday & again Monday. Not sure if it will be all on Distortion or various builders, haven't seen much writ up on this & they didn't do a "next week on making monsters...." so guess we'll have to wait til next Sun ! LoL
Kinda cool though, nice to see more & more stuff like this on Haunting & builders - pro & Home. Maybe we should submit one of our "Home Haunters" DVD's to travel channel & start up a mini series for the lil guys that haunt out there !! ( & some like a pro !! )
Yes Drama sells !! just look at all the other shows out there like OCC, etc.......... LoLWhen you look in the mirror at midnight,....what looks back at you.........

They need problems. From what I saw they had many problems. And at times had to fly by the seat of their pants to solve the problem. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved the new trend of including live actors in with pneumatics. Oh, if only I had more resources. But you could apply some of what they do on a much smaller scale. My brain just keeps working.

I've never seen TransWorld aside from Terra's photos and videos I think so I really enjoyed the episode. I loved the sculpting on some of the props and it ws interesting to see props on such a large scale. I would love a tour of their basement of discarded props. Heck would love to take some of them home too. As with any other business nothing goes smoothly. i'm sure we saw the "cleaned up" version of the shipping fiasco. I would have been seeing red with not one but two props damaged like that. I really loved their trees BTW. Great face and overall look when it was at the Monster Golf place.
